Mercedes-Benz Ener-G-Force is a brutally mad police van concept

The monster on wheels (christened Ener-G-Force) you see here is Mercedes’ understanding of what a G-Class should like in the year 2025. Developed for the L.A. Auto Show Design Challenge 2012 which asked the participants to design a go-anywhere police vehicle for the year 2025, the Ener-G-Force is designed to endure the worst driving conditions. The vehicle is purely a design yet with nothing propelling it for now. Mercedes, however is touting it as an environmentally friendly vehicle powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

The vehicle apparently has taken design cues from the G-Class. Look at those boxy wheels arches, and you can imagine a far-fetched resemblance, but sensibly speaking, we don’t see much in common.

Merc assumes that the 2025 production vehicle based on the concept will be powered by recycled water tanks mounted on the roof. This water will be used to produce hydrogen, which in turn would power the hydrogen fuel cells. The vehicle should be good for an 800 km range and there won’t be any emissions except for water. Would it be surrounded by winged fairies too? Mercedes?

There would apparently be many more wonders associated with this all-terrain machine, but we really suggest you stop bothering too much about those fables and feast your eyes with this chunky looking beast. Don’t forget to let us know what you think of the mad design.
