Suzuki Baleno with turbo BOOSTERJET engine to be displayed at 2016 Geneva Motor Show

The full production version of the all new, made-in-India Suzuki Baleno will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show from March 1stand will be launched in the UK in June of this year. Already a best-seller in its segment, the premium hatchback was launched in India in December 2015, and made its worldwide début in Frankfurt the very same year. The new Baleno will be exported to over 100 countries and India’s Manesar plant will be the premium hatchback’s global manufacturing hub. Maruti Suzuki is expecting to export 20,000 to 30,000 units of the Baleno in a year.

Models lined up for export will be powered by a 1.0-litre direct-injection turbo BOOSTERJET engine that was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in the Baleno RS Concept, and 1.2-litre SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) powertrain featuring engine assist from an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) connected to a Lithium ion Battery. The new Suzuki Baleno is based on a rigid, lightweight new generation platform. In India, prices for the Baleno start at INR 4.99 lakhs. Positioned above the Swift and retailed through Maruti’s premium NEXA outlets, the Baleno primarily competes with the Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz.
