Recent spy images revealed an upcoming MPV from the Mahindra stable that is set to rival the Toyota Innova Crysta. Now, as we await more details on that, another model, this time from its subsidiary Ssangyong Motors, has been spied during a public road test.
Images sent to us by Motoroids reader Nikhil Gavit reveal a test mule of the upcoming compact SUV from Ssangyong, christened as the Tivoli. After making its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, spy images of the test mule hint at an upcoming launch that is likely to take place very soon. The Tivoli is the first new model by Ssangyong under the Indian automobile manufacturer’s ownership.
Propelling the compact SUV would be the two powertrains that are currently available in the global spec model. While the 1.6 litre petrol engine is tuned to produce 128 PS and 160 Nm of torque, the 1.6 litre diesel engine will have a power output of 115 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be handled by a six speed manual transmission whereas a six speed automatic transmission will also be offered.
Features on the Tivoli will include LED DRLs, a heated steering wheel, heated second row seats and ventilated driver’s seat. Safety features on the compact SUV would include multifunction ESP, disc brakes for all four sides and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Once launched, the model could command a price tag in the range of Rs. 9-12 lakh (ex-showroom) and will take on the likes of the Maruti S-Cross, Nissan Terrano and the Hyundai Creta.
