The Kalina Sport will go into production in June 2014 and is being expected to be launched soon after.
The Lada Kalina Sport is based on the same platform that underpins the Lada Granta sedan. This is the same platform that also underpins Russia’s first Datsun model, which will go on sale later this year.
Powering the Lada Kalina Sport hatchback will be powered by a 120 hp version of the same 1.6 litre petrol engine that powers the Grante sedan. Rumors have been abounding that Kalina Sport will be equipped with a modified gearbox, updated brakes, sportier suspension, updated steering and new tires.
It is being said that only 500 units of the 120 hp Lada Kalina Sport will be ever built. However, there will also be 100 units of a more powerful, 135hp, version.
