Spy images of the latest BMW X5M and X6M on Indian soil have surfaced on the interweb. BMW’s latest-generation X5M and X6M made their first appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2014. The obvious bit, i.e. the ‘M’ moniker, is what matters the most as far as these two Bavarian models are concerned, and the hardcore X siblings will soon be making their official entry into India.
The new BMW X5M and X6M will share the same powerplant; a vicious 4.4-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 engine. This beast of a motor, courtesy to BMW’s M Division, churns out a meaty 575bhp and 750 Nm of crushing torque. All this oomph under the bonnet is channelled through an 8-speed automatic transmission, and spins all fours via BMW’s xDrive AWD system. The M siblings can scramble their way to the tonne mark in a smidge over 4 seconds, and the top speed is electronically pegged at 250 km/h – fast enough for miniature buses.
Visually, the BMW X5M and X6M will feature loads of ‘M’ badges all over, to leave you in no doubt as to what’s under that impressive bonnet. The styling gurus at the M Division have dressed the X5M and X6M with an aggressive-looking body kit that also includes massive sporty ‘M’ alloy wheels. The interiors get much ‘M’ branded stuff, such as a sporty steering wheel, instrument console, sportier racing-styled front seats etc.
These are the first recorded set of spy images of these two sporty SUVs in India. Also, BMW India will be introducing the X5M and X6M in the subcontinent for the very first time. The two superbly bonkers SUVs will make their way to us via the CBU route, of course. The two power-packed X siblings will be making their way to India somewhere in the later part of 2015.
