Simple One Scooter Deliveries Delayed To Q1 2023

Simple Energy has announced a delay in commencing the deliveries of their flagship scooter, the Simple One. The company announced in January this year that it would start its deliveries in June and then postponed it to September. Simple Energy announced the delay in commencing the deliveries of the scooters again owing to the recent battery safety guidelines issued by the Ministry of Highways and Road Transport. The scooter is set to follow the new standards and safety guidelines and is set to start its deliveries in the first quarter of 2023.

Speaking on this announcement, Suhas Rajkumar, Founder and CEO, of Simple Energy, said, “Adhering to the new battery safety guidelines issued by the government, Simple has taken a call to defer the deliveries of Simple ONE to thus ensure that our vehicles are certified as per new standards. Safety has been our priority since the beginning. The scooters delivered will be the best-in-class scooters that are safe, and futuristic. We appreciate the patience and the love that the customers have showered on us. We look forward to a remarkable journey ahead.”

Simple ONE is powered by a 7kW motor putting out best-in-class 72Nm. The scooter can go from 0 to 40kmph in a quick 2.85 seconds, making it the quickest electric scooter to be sold in India.  The Simple ONE also gets a dual battery setup with a fixed battery and a 7kg removable battery pack, adding up to a total capacity of 4.8kWh. The fixed battery can be charged to 80 per cent in 2.5 hours while the removable battery takes 1.5 hours. Simple ONE packs a tubular underbone chassis, sprung on a telescopic fork and a mono-shock.

It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels with 90-section tyres and also gets options of 100-section front and 110-section rear tyre combinations.  A 200mm disc up front and a 190mm disc at the rear powers the braking capacity of the scooter. The Simple ONE comes at a price of Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom) for the standard variant with a range of 203 km (up to 236 km in ideal conditions), and Rs 1,44,999 (ex-showroom) for the long-range configuration with over 300 km of range with an additional battery.
