BMW Motorrad has globally unveiled its 2023 M 1000 RR along with its sibling the M 1000 R. Heavy use of carbon fibre and numerous electronic add-ons are part of the package on the M 1000 RR and R over the standard S model. Powered by a 999cc inline four-cylinder water-cooled engine producing 212bhp in the RR and 207bhp in the 1000 R at 13,750 rpm and thus 45 hp more than in the S 1000 R. Both the roadster motorbikes are topped up to the brim with electronic aids and features such as Riding modes ‘Rain’, ‘Road’, ‘Dynamic’, ‘Race’ and ‘Race Pro1-3’ as well as the latest generation of Dynamic Traction Control and wheelie function with 6-axis sensor box, throttle and engine braking modes, pit lane limiter, launch control, hill hold control and lean-sensitive electronics like the brake slide assist, shift assistant pro for Quick gear changes without using the clutch for upshifting or downshifting and lastly cruise control.

On the mechanical front, the bike comes equipped with a host of M-specific components like the M Endurance chain and the M brakes on the aluminium forged M carbon wheels with M taping & lettering, the M handbrake & clutch lever. And if the buyer still demands more, then there’s the M Competition Package that comes with parts such as the M rider footrest, M rear wheel cover & chain guard, front wheel cover, tank cover, airbox cover, wind deflector, sprocket cover and an M pillion seat cover.

Aerodynamics are being taken care of by winglets in the front side panel areas and a wind deflector above the instrument cluster producing downforce of around 11 kgs at speeds of 220 km/h 220 km/h keeping the 45mm all-black upside-down fork which also has Dynamic Damping Control along with adjustable steering damper. In the M 1000 RR, the downforce created by the full fairing and integrated M Brake ducts as well as the new M aero wheel covers allows this supersport bike to touch speeds of 314 km/h.

BMW has worked hard to shave off the weight of both these bikes by using carbon fibre in the fairing and lightweight alloys and has been successful in making them lighter by 9 kgs. These hardcore trackbred roadsters are perfect for those of us who want that rush of adrenaline, the thrill of dashing past corners at full blast and enjoying the potential of these superbikes.
