French automobile manufacturer Renault has tasted success with the launch of the Kwid last year. The hatchback, which was launched last year has set the cash registers ringing for the company. Sighting a good demand, Renault showcased two upcoming versions of the model at the 2016 Auto Expo, the 1.0 litre Kwid and a Easy-R-AMT transmission equipped Kwid.

Spy images that surfaced on the web showed a test mule of the Kwid with a 1.0 litre engine that was spotted during its public road test. Now, if reports are to be believed, Renault is all set to launch this model in the Indian market as soon as next month. Currently, the hatchback is powered by an 800 cc motor, and with the launch of the 1.0 litre variant, the company expects to increase its market share.
Currently powering the Renault Kwid is the 800 cc three cylinder petrol engine tuned to produce 52 hp of power and 72 Nm of peak torque. This engine sends power to the wheels with the help of a five speed manual transmission. Once launched, the Kwid 1.0 litre will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and the Hyundai Eon.
