The iconic luxury car maker Rolls Royce has announced that they are working on a India Edition model. The model is expected to be launched in India by 2014. The British luxury car maker which is now owned by the BMW group has a long history of its presence in India. The various Indian rich Maharaja’s at a point of time collectively owned 788 Rolls Royce’s in the past. This shows the long heritage and association of the brand in India.
“It is an interesting project and it will take time for us to bring in a perfect product that meets the diversities of India and we are working on collecting data, feedback from our existing and prospective customers,” Herfried Hasenoehrl, general manager of emerging markets & Asia, said.
When we launch the car, it will have the perfect blend and will represent India as a whole,” he said. “The India edition could be on any our existing models such as Phantom, Ghost or Wraith,” he added. Herfried, who was in Chennai to showcase the latest model Wraith, said: “India is the largest market for us within Asia Pacific as we have rolled out more dealers in India than in any other country across APAC.”
Rolls Royce currently has 3 models on sale in India and a network of 4 dealerships comprising of Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. A fifth store will be opened soon in Chandigarh. All the Rolls Royce’s are manufactured at the sole production facility in Goodwood, England.
Rolls Royce have sold a total of 250 cars since they began their operation in India in the year 2005.
