Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL) today rolled out the very first Aprilia SR 150 from its plant in Baramati. After its announcement at the Delhi Motor Show/Auto Expo 2016 in February, Piaggio has started the production of the Aprilia SR 150 today and the Aprilia SR 150 will be made in India at Piaggio’s Baramati plant.

Available in matte black and white, the Aprilia SR 150, which is being dubbed as India’s first “crossover bike”, is powered by a 150cc engine which is good for 10.4 bhp and 11.4 Nm of torque. Other highlights of the SR150 include a steel frame structure, a twin pod analogue instrument cluster, tubeless tires and styling inspired by that of the RSV 4 1000 RF Factory super-bike.

Commenting on the roll out of the Aprilia SR 150, Mr. Stefano Pelle, Managing Director and CEO, PVPL said, “With the roll out of the Aprilia SR 150, it is indeed a proud moment for us here at the Piaggio group.  The first India made Aprilia only reiterates our India commitment. The SR 150 is a one of its kind from the Aprilia stable, especially since this bike is customized for the Indian market and produced locally. The crossover segment in India is in its nascent stage and we are yet to see its full potential; with the Aprilia SR 150 we aim to capitalize on this opportunity. Aprilia worldwide is known for its racing heritage and we have packed some of the superbikes abilities like performance and handling in this compact SR 150.”
