Recently, Nissan launched the much-awaited Tekton SUV in India. The Duster sibling has already achieved a significant feat in a short time. Nissan has now entered the India Book of Records after 60 Tekton SUVs completed a five-day drive to Leh.
The convoy covered more than 700 km and took on some of the toughest roads in the Himalayas. The journey started from Chandigarh and passed through Manali and Zangla before the SUVs reached Leh.
60 Nissan Tekton SUVs Take On The Himalayas
The drive was not just a regular road trip. The convoy crossed Shinku La Pass, which sits at an altitude of 16,703 feet. Leh itself is located at around 11,480 feet.
The SUVs had to deal with:
- More than 700 km of mountain roads

- Steep climbs and descents
- Rough and challenging road surfaces

Media members and automotive industry experts drove all 60 SUVs during the expedition.

Inspired By The Nissan Patrol
The Tekton takes design inspiration from Nissan’s famous Patrol SUV. It also gets a range of modern features aimed at making it more comfortable and safer on Indian roads.

Nissan is also producing the Tekton at its Chennai manufacturing plant. The company follows its “One Car, One World” strategy for the SUV. Apart from India, the model is also planned for export markets such as the Middle East and Africa.
Nissan Tekton Price And Deliveries
The SUV is currently available at introductory ex-showroom prices starting at Rs 10.49 lakh for the Turbo T160 range. The more powerful Turbo T280 range starts at Rs 14.99 lakh.
Bookings are open through Nissan dealerships and its digital platforms. Customer deliveries started on July 20.
Nissan Motor India managing director Saurabh Vatsa said the Himalayan expedition highlights the company’s 75-year SUV heritage and the engineering behind the Tekton.
