We reported live from the event when Mahindra launched the much awaited e2o at a launch ceremony in New Delhi today. Now, we have compiled all the details and the images of the new car to give you a fair idea of what the new Reva is all about.
The e2o is priced at Rs.5.96 lacs (on road Delhi, post state subsidy) and the electric vehicle is ideal for those with short commutes and in need of a second vehicle to do the duty of a regular city runabout. The e2o also provides an apt solution to problems such as that of environmental degradation, pollution related health concerns, climate change, energy security and rising oil prices.
Powering the new e2o is a set of lithium–ion batteries which transmit the power to a 3 phase induction electric motor. The e2o, with its automatic transmission and small turning radius, makes the car very convenient for city usage. Special ABS body panels make e2o dent and scratch resistant. The car has a driving range of 100 kms on a full charge and can carry a maximum of four passengers.
The control interface for the vehicle can be made available on any smartphone device by merely downloading an application. The application then gives the user the power to remotely manage several functions of the Mahindra e2o.
The Mahindra e2o can be charged from any 15A power socket available in any home. This means that charging the e2o is almost as easy as charging a laptop or a mobile phone. The new EV can be fully charged in just 5 hours.
The new car comes with the patented REVive® technology that allows the user to remotely activate the reserve energy in the rare event of low battery charge. The regenerative braking feature in the Mahindra e2o also pumps energy back into the car’s batteries and charges them every time you slow down or apply the brakes.
The latest EV from Mahindra comes equipped with a 15.5 cms (6.2 in.) touch screen, factory fitted GPS navigation system, radio, DVD, Bluetooth & I-pod connectivity, full digital cluster, electrically operated wing mirrors, keyless entry & start/stop button, projector head lamps, LED tail lamps, reverse camera and 4 JBL speakers with 2 tweeters.
Safety Technologies include High strength steel space frame construction that cocoons the occupants, ISOFIX child seat mount with ALR seat belts, Large front crumple zone, Dual side impact beams and Hood designed for pedestrian impact safety.
The stylish Mahindra e2o will be available in six attractive colours – Arctic Silver, Coral Blue, Eco Green, Oceanic White, Spanish Red and Sunfire Yellow.
