Hero MotoCorp plans to introduce a higher displacement CD Dawn motorcycle which will be sold alongside the 100cc model. The company already sells 100cc and 125cc models in the international market. But this YouTube video, uploaded by Deuce Production, reveals a new, 150cc variant of the CD dawn.
The Hero Dawn 100, as suggested in the video, will get an improved motor along with a new seat and a wide rear carrier. The current Dawn 100 draws power from a 97.2cc air cooled, 4 – stroke single cylinder OHC engine that puts out 8 bhp of power at 8,000 rpm and 8.05 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. The numbers are not expected to change massively with the upcoming model. However, expect to see some mechanical upgrades for lower NVH and improved fuel economy.
The current generation Hero Dawn 125, which is currently available in the Tanzanian market, gets a 124.7cc air cooled, 4stroke, single cylinder OHC engine that churns out 9 bhp of power at 7,000 rpm and 10.35 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The new generation model, unlike the current variant’s trapezoidal headlight, will get a round illuminator. The Dawn 150, on the other hand, is expected to get the same ATFT engine that powers the Hero Achiever. The 149.2cc air Cooled, 4 – stroke single cylinder OHC engine on the Achiever puts out 13.4 bhp of power at 8,000 rpm and 12.80 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm.
None of the models gets disc brakes which is probably done to keep the prices low. The video was uploaded in October 2015 and the description says “Kenya Market” and thus we are not sure if the new, higher displacement models would be available in India or not.
