The world’s smallest car is getting a shot in the arm. Tata Motors has announced that it will be increasing the production of its small car Nano. The production will be increased by around 500 units. According to Rajiv Dubey, Head of Passenger cars, Tata Motors, the company is ramping up production by around 20% from this month. He said that post production increase Tata is expecting to shift around 3,000 units of the Nano per month. He also revealed that the company has achieved a monthly sales (i.e. deilivery) figure of around 2,500 units for its iconic small car in the last three months.

Tata Motors was originally slated to begin production of the Nano from its plant in Singur that was being setup in West Bengal. Owing to a land dispute it had to move out of West Bengal and eventually established a production plant Sanand in Gujrat. The Gujrat plant is likely to be fully operational only from next fiscal onwards. Currently the Nano is being produced at its Pantnagar factory in Uttarakhand. Only 9000 of the 1,00,000 lucky winners have got the delivery of their Nano to date.
