Motoroids Foto Fan (#MotoroidsFotoFan) contest received overwhelming response from our readers, with the number of entries surpassing 500. We were both astounded and humbled at receiving such response for the contest. We would like to thank our readers for their love and enthusiasm. We thank all the participants, and even those who didn’t participate but involved themselves by liking the contest entries, reading the posts and generally by showing interest.
Last week, we listed almost every participant entry on our pages for our readers to view and enjoy. The first page of this post listed the finalists, and invited participation from you to help us choose the winner. A week later, we have our winner in this image submitted by Ashr Ashraf, from Kochi. As the winner of this contest, he takes home a Volvo original 1:18 scale model of the XC90. Our heartiest congratulations to Ahsr for his win.
Ashr’s photo managed to win because of a variety of reasons. To start with, a biker looking at those snow capped mountain ranges from a distance is a picture that characterizes the dream of almost every two wheeled aficionado in the country. The dark silhouette against the distant, nebulous outline of the mountain peaks lends the image a unique, mystifying aura.
While not the defining factor, the motorcycle in the image, the HD Street 750 is also representative of the quantum shift in the dreams and aspirations of the Indian rider. It really symbolizes how our aspirations have grown multi-fold in the past few years and nothing less than a truly global machine would fit the bill for a lot of us. International bike makers, who one thought of India as a garbage dump have taken due note of our desires, shunned their snootiness and created motorcycles suiting specifically to our needs and budgets. The Street 750, signifying that change is an important element of that image.
Finally, even with all of what we have said about that image, it doesn’t seem to have been taken with any special equipment. There is no artificial lighting, no special effects, no apparent Photoshopping, and yet it manages to look visually breathtaking with a deep philosophical sense to it. The number of likes on the image, though not a definitive criterion, was the final seal of approval by the readers also.
