Cartoq says that a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 4X2 Automatic might be launched in India sometime in mid-November this year. The new, automatic transmission equipped Paj won’t be hooked with a 4X4 system, allowing it to be priced at par with its nearest competitor- the Toyota Fortuner.
A 5 speed automatic gearbox will be employed, sending power to the rear wheels- the addition of which is expected to increase the appeal of this behemoth . The 2.5 liter-4 cylinder turbo diesel engine will remain unchanged, with power and torque outputs remaining pegged at 178 Bhp and 400 Nm.
Expect the Pajero Sport Automatic 4X2 to be dearer by at least 1 lakh INR than the Pajero Sport 4X4, which starts at Rs. 23.50 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. Mitsubishi India already assembles the Pajero Sport at the Hindustan Motors factory at Tiruvallur, near Chennai, and interestingly, it’s the sole car sold by Japanese manufacturer in India.
