Entering the Indian market with a product the whole nation loves, an SUV, MG Motor has been teasing their Hector SUV for quite some time now. This much-awaited SUV is scheduled to be unveiled on the 15th of May, 2019 in the city of Mumbai. Till now, we have seen the new iSmart system the car will come with, making the Hector a connected SUV. This complex system will be controlled by the massive, 10.4-inch touch enable infotainment screen in the centre of the dash and could be used to control a variety of functions present in the car. This screen, just like our smartphones will be placed vertically and offer a smooth operating experience. After its launch, this SUV will compete against the likes of the newly launched Tata Harrier and the well established Jeep Compass in the Indian market.
The Hector will also come with a voice assistant, helping you to navigate through the various settings of the car, which are all controlled by the large central screen. What is interesting, that this voice command system works and talks like an actual assistant, giving you that friendly feeling, creating a stronger bond between you and your car. Developed by Nuance for MG India, this assistant has been specifically designed for India for Indian accent learning. Using built-in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, the system will learn and get better every day with usage.
Under the bonnet of this upcoming SUV, MG shall offer a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol powerplant is a 1.5-litre unit which will use forced induction to generate around 140 bhp of power. This engine will come mated with a manual stick shifter as standard and perhaps a dual clutch automatic too, will be on offer. The torquey diesel motor is the Fiat sourced 2-litre Multijet engine. This powerplant is expected to be tuned to give a power output of 170 horses, just like in the Jeep Compass. We shall be bringing you live coverage of the unveiling event of this SUV so stay tuned.
