Merecedes-Benz sales boom in January 2011

Mercedes-Benz India sold 640 units in January 2011 with a growth of 59% over January 2010 when it sold 403 units. Of the 640 units sold the C–Class contributed with 265 units, E-Class with 252 units, S-Class with 46 units and the entire SUV comprising the M-Class, GL-Class and the R-Class with 67 units.

These numbers are wholesale figures, where the company counts every unit sold to the dealer as a sale. It’s not necessary that these many units were bought by the end users.

Mr. Peter T Honegg, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “2010 was an exciting year for us. While the market grew at 60% Year on Year, we at Mercedes-Benz India managed a growth of 80%. This clearly shows that, our exciting products, strong brand traction and ownership experience continues to be highly appreciated by our customers”.
