Mercedes-Benz India has launched a more powerful version of its highest selling SUV in the country, the GLE. With 333 HP and 480 Nm of torque from its new, 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, the new Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 4Matic will set you back by INR 74.90 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi). This is the first instance when the GLE will be available in a petrol variant in India. The GLE 400 4MATIC will be initially available as a CBU, and the local production will follow later in the year.
Notable technical highlights of the Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 4MATIC include an AIRMATIC suspension with Adaptive Dampening System that raises the maximum ground clearance to 232 mm and also automatically lowers the suspension by 15 mm at high speeds, and five different driving modes – ‘Comfort’, ‘Sport’, ‘Slippery’, ‘Individual’ and ‘Off-road’. Infotainment duties are handled by a large 20.3 cm (8-inch) Media Display running COMAND Online and a 14-speaker, 830 watt, Harman Kardon surround sound system.
Safety equipment of the GLE is extended with assistance systems such as Crosswind Assist, Attention Assist, Active Parking Assist and Brake Assist. The GLE is equipped with 6 airbags for driver and passenger protection, i.e., adaptive front airbags, side bags for driver and front passenger and also window air bags between A, B and C-pillars.
