It has emerged that the Etios Liva hatchback could be soon launched with a rough road package in Brazil. The Etios Liva is known simply as the Etios hatchback in Brazil and here we have clear spy pics of the upcoming Brazil-spec Toyota Etios Cross.

The Etios Cross is basically a fully loaded Etios XLS variant that has been given enough plastic cladding adn visual upgrades to make it a pseudo crossover. In Brazil, the Etios Cross would rival the VW Gol Rallye, Hyundai HB20X and the Renault Sandero Stepway. However, we won’t be too surprised to see this car coming to Indian soil and making life a bit tougher for the recently launched Volkswagen Cross Polo, which again is a Polo+ Some Plastics.

Other than the black plastic cladding, the Etios Cross also sports an additional front bumper, a set of reflectors near the grille and a set of auxiliary lamps. Completing the rough road package are roof rails and diamond-finished alloy wheels.

As can be expected from such cars, the Etios Cross remains mechanically unchanged and will share its underpinnings, drivetrain and other bits with the Etios XLS. This means that the car will be powered by a 1.5-liter Flex fuel motor that has a max power of  96.5bhp.

Quite obviously, the Etios Cross would be pricier than the XLS variant, which is being sold in Brazil for 42,490 Brazilian Reals (approx INR 11.9 lakhs). The Toyota Etios Cross Brazil launch is expected happen in late-Sept/early-Oct.

  1. Why on earth would anyone buy a cross etios when no body liked the eitos’s ordinary design in the first place.it seems toyota has not yet earned to the breakeven point with eitos development so trying to generate some revenue with the cross.
It seems Toyota has learned no lessons with eitos & Liva. When every body wanted a compact SUV they brought these. At least now they should have launched the RUSH compact 7 seater suv which is sold in the malaysian market & also known as Daihatsu Terios on the other. it has both 5 seater & 7 seater options they should have launched both instead of etios & liva. If not then atleast now but they doesn’t seems to have learned any lessons as said earlier.Toyota is not able read indian customer minds that is proved but atleast they can read this:)

  2. Toyota will have to pay buyers in return, to buy this piece of sh*t. Look at the color combination. Seems some unsymmetrically shaped man with zero sense of dressing has been decorated with a dress from Satya paul.
