McLaren Senna Carbon To Debut At 2018 Geneva International Motor Show

Back in December last year, British marquee McLaren unveiled the newest member to its Ultimate Series, christened as the McLaren Senna, a tribute to their late racecar driver, Ayrton Senna. Ahead of its public debut that is scheduled to take place at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS), McLaren has taken the wraps off one of five themes prepared by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) for the new Ultimate Series model, which is the Carbon theme.

As the name suggests, the McLaren Senna carbon theme comprises of 67 parts made of Carbon, which according to McLaren, take about 1000 man-hours to produce. The model also Solar Yellow accents on various parts of the body such as the sills, front fascia and the wing while the brake calipers are finished in Laurel Green. These personalisations, which is claimed to take another 250 hours to apply, have been made in connection with Ayrton Senna’s Brazilian heritage. Also on offer are seven spoke carbon-fibre and aluminium wheels that are 10% lighter than the standard wheels. The wheels will be available in either a diamond cut or a stealth finish, with red and blue wheel nuts.

Inside the McLaren Senna Carbon theme features black Alcantara seats with the Solar Yellow stitching just like the speakers and the centre strip of the steering wheel. The door gas strut meanwhile, receives the same shade of Laurel Green as seen on the brake calipers.

Just as the ‘standard’ Senna models, this Carbon themed unit sources power from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces a monstrous 800 PS of power and 800 Nm of torque. Speeds of naught to the tonne can be attained in a mere 2.8 seconds, all the way up till it maxes out at 340 kmph. All 500 units of the McLaren Senna have been accounted for, with the last unit selling for an astronomical 2 million pounds! Yes, you read that right!
