Updated Mazda Carol Eco refresh (rebadged Suzuki Alto) launched in Japan

Mazda recently refreshed its Carol Eco (rebadged JDM Suzuki Alto) and the highlight of the updated car is its fuel economy, which stangs at a whopping 35kmpl as per Japanese JCO8 driving cycle.

The updated Mazda Carol Eco comes with a set of upgrades made to its engine, all of which work together to endow the small car with astonishing fuel efficiency.These updated include improvements made to the combustion, piston geometry, compression ratio (from 11 to 11.2) and optimizing transmission control units.

Compared to the earlier car’s fuel economy of 32 kmpl, the updated model achieves 3kmpl  more. The 4WD model too now boasts of a higher fuel efficiency of 32kmpl, as against 30.4 km/l from earlier model. .

The Mazda Carol Eco is on sale in two variants – ECO-L and ECO-X. Powering the car is a three-cylinder 0.66 liter DOHC petrol engine that comes mated to a CVT gearbox. 

The entry level variant of Carol retails for 849,450 Yen, the mid-variant for 985,950 Yen and the top-end 4WD variant for 1,085,700 Yen. The new, more fuel efficient, Carol Eco is cheaper than the model it replaces by 60,000 Yen. Also, the new model can be also bought in either of two new colors- Pink Champagne Pearl Metallic and Phoenix Red Pearl
