Maruti Suzuki is almost ready with its new compact (sub-4 meter) SUV, codenamed the YBA. Reports suggest that it’ll be called the Vitara Brezza. Fresh images of a camouflaged prototype reveal the car’s exterior design details somewhat.

The tight fitting covers reveal a handsome looking vehicle. Sure, it’s boxy, but quite innocuous as well. Front end styling features a two port grille that’s sure to be trimmed in chrome, while the front bumper looks very busy indeed. The compact headlamp clusters feature projector illumination, but the indicators are separately positioned on the bumper, just above the fog lamp clusters.

The sides feature a strong shoulder line, which emanates from the headlamps, rears up the chrome trimmed window line base as it rises and distils itself into the tail lamps. Heavy padding on the rear haunches of this prototype do not reveal certain design details, like the quarter window, or the surface treatment given to the wheel arch flare.

Other highlights will include blacked out A- and B-pillars, a floating roof, 5-spoke alloy wheels and a rear spoiler. The interiors have been spied as well, but clearer spy images of the inside had surfaced before as well – Maruti YBA (Vitara Brezza) compact SUV spied up close; interiors revealed . The conventionally styled interiors feature an all-black theme highlighted with dull silver inserts, a Smart Play infotainment system in the higher variants, fabric seats, climate control, and a reversing camera.

As for power, reports suggest that the YBA will employ the same petrol and diesel engines used in the Swift – a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. Transmission options would include a 5-speed manual and a CVT. The Maruti YBA, when launched, will compete with the Mahidra TUV300, the Ford EcoSport, as well as the upcoming Mahindra KUV100 (S101), Datsun Go Cross etc.

  1. Now starts the real headache for Maruti's tin boxes. Pricing will be there headache. They have felt that with the pricing of Baleno, Swift got beaten up by it. Now where will they price this car , because if they price it in the Ecosport range , Baleno will surely feel the heat. If they price it lower then rest assure Swift is gone permanently, and Dezire too will take the dent, and for Maruti these two are the top grossers.
what i feel is that they will not launch it immediatly. They will give some time to Baleno and S Cross to settle , and then will go for permutations and combinations . But one thing is sure first time in history Maruti is in severe dilemma.
    What is your opinion guys?
