After launching the two AMT equipped hatches- Celerio and Alto K10, Maruti Suzuki is working towards providing the AMT on the best selling premium hatchback from their stable- Swift. According to a report, Maruti Suzuki India Limited will be launching the SWift diesel AMT in November this year.
Currently, the only car equipped with an AMT on the diesel variant is the Tata Zest and other manufacturers are also planning to launch their AMT equipped models soon. Maruti-Suzuki currently sources the AMT kit for the Celerio and Alto K10 from the Italian firm Magneti Marelli. Magnetti Marelli is setting up a dedicated production facility in India to increase the supply of the AMT kits. The Celerio and Alto K10 have a huge waiting period for the AMT equipped variants. When the production of AMT kits commences in India, Maruti Suzuki will also launch the AMT variants of the Ertiga, Dzire and WagonR.
