Maruti Suzuki Kizashi sets its eyes on India

Maruti Suzuki is a trusted household name when it comes to small cars. However, the same cannot be said about its larger cars (and SUVs). While the Alto, Swift and Dezire are runaway success stories, the Baleno, SX-4 and the Grand Vitara, which are the expensive cars in Maruti’s lineup, have tasted little success. Hence it comes in as a surprise that Maruti would still like to introduce the Suzuki Kizashi premium sedan in India.

However, if reports from Carwale are to be believed, then the Kizashi could well make it to the showroom floors by the end of this year. The India bound car is expected to be powered by a 2.4-litre, 185hp petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual and/or automatic transmission. If the Kizashi comes to India, it will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Sonata and if priced and speced right, could give the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry a run for their money. It will be interesting to see if Maruti Suzuki can attract wealthy customers to the Kizashi, especially considering the fact that this segment of the market is inclined more towards the brand value than hardcore functionality.

Maruti Suzuki is mulling the launch of the Kizashi sedan for India. More details on Motoroids.com
