Mahindra XUV Aero coupe-crossover rendered ahead of its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo


Referring to the recent teaser sketch of the Mahindra XUV Aero concept, folks at Indian Autos Blog (IAB) have rendered the coupe-crossover. Shoeb Kalania from IAB has digitally translated the sketch to show what the Aero concept might look like in its production avatar. The unveiling of the concept will be done at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The Mahindra XUV Aero Concept is reportedly based on the XUV 500 as it can be seen that the concept fairly resembles the SUV. Especially the pumped up arches lend the concept abroad XUV-like appearance. The roofline slopes down at the back imparting the fastback profile ala BMW X6. The chunky tail lights are shaved off and relatively small cluster is fitted on the tailgate. The coupe treatment reminds us of the BMW X6 and the newly launched GLE 450 AMG Coupe by Mercedes-Benz. The XUV Aero Concept seems to be Mahindra’s effort to bring the premium body designs to the conventional vehicles.

The specifications of this upcoming vehicle are unknown as of yet but we assume that on production the XUV Aero will likely drive on the tech-mech similar to the XUV500. Mahindra recently introduced a new 1.99-liter variant of the mHawk diesel engine to evade the Supreme Court ruling that banned new registrations of diesel cars over 2000cc in Delhi NCR. The power output of the new engine config is similar to the 2.2-liter unit.

At the upcoming Auto Expo 2016, Mahindra will showcase the XUV Aero Concept vehicle featuring Mahindra’s new infotainment and futuristic connectivity features. These features will be carried on to Mahindra’s future production models. While very little is known at the moment, it is just a matter of a week to see the Mahindra XUV Aero Concept in all its glory at the upcoming mega event.
