Mahindra XUV Aero Concept

Auto Expo 2016: Mahindra XUV Aero Concept is a baby BMW X6; teased

Mahindra XUV500 Aero Concept

At the upcoming Auto Expo 2016, Mahindra will be unveiling the XUV Aero Concept vehicle, a coupe-crossover based on the XUV500. This particular body-style is limited only to premium vehicles as of now, and the trend arguably started with the first-generation BMW X6. Mahindra will, in all probability put this thing to production soon, and will become the first manufacturer to take the coupe-crossover body-style mainstream.

The teaser sketch shows how all-new styling will pan out, and it sure does promise to be one of the better looking Mahindras to have ever rolled out of the Chakan plant’s gates. However, the way the sloping roof-line meets the rear, creating a fastback shape; along with the triple ribbed tail lamps, make the tail look more Mustang than Mahindra. That apart, the XUV500’s familiar shape has been accentuated with pumped up arches giving off a wide-body appearance, new surface treatment on the sides, and a even a rear diffuser like styling element.

The concept will also be showcase Mahindra’s new infotainment and connectivity features that will feature on future production models. The Mahindra XUV Aero, when launched in production trim, could very well be a new segment creator, and will be the brand’s flagship model.
