We have been regularly reporting about the upcoming Mahindra Verito Vibe hatchback. We all know how the first hatchback from Mahindra would look like and this is courtesy numerous spy shots that have come up on the cyber space and have rendered us speechless with disbelief.

Thanks to these spy pics, we are pretty sure that it might take us sometime to get over those unusually wide C pillars for a hatchback. The rear-end design won’t win any design contests either and overall, the car looks like a hastily truncated version of the Verito sedan.

It’s tough to say if the good folks at Mahindra have taken design inspiration from the Ford Focus but it is really a child’s play to predict that there is going to be a divided opinion on the rear-end design.

It has now emerged that the new Mahindra Verito Vibe hatchback will be launched in India on June 5.

The Verito Vibe will rival the highly popular Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Chevrolet Sail hatchback and the Hyundai i20. The Mahindra Verito Vibe, in all chances, would be promoted as entirely new car instead of a variant of the Verito.

The Mahindra Verito Vibe hatchback could be priced in the vicinity of INR 5.25-6 lakhs. Powering the upcoming Verito-based hatchback will be the tried and tested 1.5 litre Renault K9K diesel engine that powers many cars in our market.

Speaking on the ‘Verito Vibe’, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, has said “Customer centric innovation has always been at the heart of any product development at the Mahindra Group. The Verito Vibe marks our entry in the high volume sub 4 metre segment. While developing this product we have paid particular attention to making this car look different and we are sure that it will appeal to customers with its young and sporty looks and that too without compromising the benefits which our existing Verito has to offer. “

Do you think that the upcoming hatchback would be able to get the better of the more established rivals?

Here is a spy pic from Team-Bhp that shows an uncamouflaged Verito Vibe test mule.
