The Made in India Suzuki Baleno gets unloaded at Toyohashi Port  Japan

The first lot of Made in India Suzuki Balenos have made it to Japan, and recently got unloaded at Toyohashi Port. This first lot of Balenos, manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant, was exported to Japan in January. The Suzuki Baleno not only becomes the first Maruti Suzuki to be ever exported to Japan, but also the very first car manufactured in India that is being exported to the land of the rising sun.

Maruti Suzuki had previously confirmed that the new Baleno will be exported to over 100 countries and India’s Manesar plant will be the premium hatchback’s global manufacturing hub. Apart from Japan, Baleno will be exported to Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Spain. The Baleno will also be sold in Latin American countries such as Chile, Paraguay and Colombia. The company is expecting to export 20,000 to 30,000 units in a year.

The Suzuki Baleno exported to Japan is powered by a 1.0-litre, Boosterjet petrol engine good for 110 hp and 170 Nm, along with a 1.2-litre, Dualjet petrol engine mated to SHVS mild hybrid technology. The Baleno was launched in India in October 2015, with prices starting from INR 4.99 lakh. Positioned above the Swift and retailed through the manufacturer’s premium NEXA outlets, the Baleno competes with the Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz, outselling them both within a month of launch.
