Low cost Nissan Micra caught testing, slated for March 2013 launch

Low cost nissan micra spotted

Regulars here might remember we earlier reported that Nissan India might launch a low cost variant of Micra in the highly competitive hatchback segment. It may be noted that the cutesy Micra has failed to get the better of more established rivals and can surely do with some cost cutting to make it a more attractive proposition for the car buyers.

The Nissan Micra low cost variant was recently caught testing on the outskirts of Chennai . Codenamed the G02A, the the low cost variant of the Micra would lose out on a few features to come with an attractive price tag. Safely expect the upcoming variant to be as much as INR 70,000 cheaper than the current base model of the Micra.

The snap was clicked by an AutoCarIndia reader and visual clues hint at a new tail-lamp cluster. As part of the cost cutting the adjustable front headrests might be replaced by an integrated singular unit. Expect a few other discards too from the interiors to meet the targeted price-points.

Goes for saying “better late than never”.

  1. I guess instead of calling it a low cost Micra , it would have been apt to be called a stripped down Micra. The headline seems that it is made in China and then assembled in India 😉
