While we are pretty sure that one of these two bikes is the Z1000, we wonder what the second bike could be. A safe guess would be to assume that Kawasaki India is launching both the Z1000 and the Z800 in India. We await official confirmation and would update you here. So, stay tuned in!

Meanwhile, the 2014 Kawasaki Z100o comes to us via CBU (completely built unit) route and will be sold through new exclusive Kawasaki India dealers/Bajaj-Kawasaki probiking dealers. Kawasaki has announced that exclusive Kawasaki India showroom in Delhi will open shortly.

Update: The second Kawasaki bike under the covers is the Ninja 1000

Powering the new 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 is the same 1043cc DOHC liquid-cooled 16-valve inline 4 cylinder engine that powered the earlier model.

For the 2014 model, the engine develops more power and has a max power output of 142ps@10,000 rpm. The peak torque, at 111 nm, remains the same but is now developed at 500rpm lower.

The new Kawasaki Ninja 1000 will join the likes of Ninja 650 in India and should become a more ‘practical’ option for those who have refrained from putting their money down on the bonkers ZX10R!

The 1000cc Ninja is powered by the same 1043cc, inline-four cylinder motor that powers the Z1000. For the Ninja 1000, this motor has a max power of 142 PS @ 10000 RPM and peak torque of 111 Nm @ 7300 RPM. While the new Ninja 1000 isn’t be a lethal track machine, it is a very capable road-going litre class bike. Compared to previous version of the Ninja 1000, the new bike benefits from marginally more power and a better torque-spread.

Both the bikes benefit from following

  • The KRTC traction control system, which will come as standard equipment.
  • New advanced aluminium twin tube frame

Both the new bikes come to us via CBU route from Japan. However, Kawasaki might install an assembly plant if demand for these models turns out to be profitable enough for the manufacturer to set up a CKD assembly plant.

With the launch of these two new bikes, Kawasaki India will extend its product portfolio to total of six motorcycles- Ninja 300, Ninja 650, Ninja ZX-10R, ZX-14R, Ninja 1000 and the Z1000. With a wide range of products, Kawasaki India is confident of achieving 20 percent market share by 2015.
