We have been regular with posting details about the upcoming Nissan-Datsun budget brand of cars that will go on sale in emerging markets like that of India.

We reported when it emerged that Renault Nissan Technology and Business development Centre India (RNTBCI) is busy with the development of three Datsun small cars that will be first launched in competitive car markets of Indian and Indonesia. The cars will challenge entry level vehicles from Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.

While we have been frequently updating our readers with the India bound Nissan Datsun cars, what we have here are today are more details of the first Datsun model for Russian car market. The first Datsun for Russia is a mid size sedan that has been codenamed as NKD 2196. The NKD 2196 is basically a redesigned Lada Granta. It may be noted that Renault-Nissan recently acquired control over AvtoVAZ, the Russian automotive firm which owns Lada.

Seen here are leaked patent sketches of the Datsun NKD 2196. As can be made out on comparison with the Lada sedan, the upcoming Datsun seems feature the same lines between A pillar and C pillar. The front and rear end get different styling.

The front fascia sports a chunky hexagonal grill which might become the face of all Datsun cars that are slated to be unveiled in near future. The headlamps of the Datsun sedan are pretty similar to those on the Lada Granta but other than this slight similarity, the front fascias of the two cars bear no resemblance.
