2013 Tata Aria facelift caught testing again

We have always looked upon the Tata Aria as a well sorted out car that desperately warrants a better fate in our fast emerging car market. However, thanks to various reasons which ranged from a high price tag to a brand image that people find it tough associating with a premium car, the Aria MPV could hardly ever clock good sales figures and is unfortunately considered to be a dud.

Tata Motors recognizes that it needs to do away with various issues to let the Aria have a better showing in it segment. Tata recently launched a new Aria Pure LX variant at an attractive price of INR 9.95 lakhs. However, despite of all the discounts and price cuts, the Aria could not capture the imagination of Indian car buyers.

Tata has still not given up on the Aria MPV and will soon come up with a facelift to give the MPV a new lease of life. Tata intends to re-launch the Aria with a few cosmetic upgrades and a revised price tag. The car could be launched as soon as in April this year.

We reported in detail when Tata was caught testing the Aria with smoked headlamps (a la VW Vento facelift) that consisted of a projector setup. (Please see the lead image)

Now, another Aria facelift test mule has been spotted and the car has been seen sporting new clear lens tail light lens covers. The Aria facelift might also come with a rosewood-beige interior that was seen on the Aria-AT concept at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo last year.

Other changes might include the addition of a Harman audio system, silver and gold door handles and captain chairs for the top of the line variants.

Tata might also come up with an automatic variant sporting a 6-speed Auto ‘box with Tiptronic.

We really wish to see if the Tata Aria facelift will enjoy a better fate that the current car.
