The KTM 390 Duke India launch has to be the most awaited bike launches of recent times. The KTM 390 Duke has been caught testing on Indian roads on several occasions and the cyber space is full of rumours related to the launch of the new bike. The latest rumour to have surfaced on the web world is that the new Katoom would be unveiled in India on April 10. Interestingly, another rumour states that the new Kawasaki Ninja 300R too would be unveiled in India on April 10.

KTM Lajpat Nagar, the source of the latest rumour, states that the new bike will be priced in the vicinity of INR 2.2-2.5 Lakhs.

Visually, there is little to differentiate the new Duke 390 from the Duke 200. Pretty obviously, the biggest difference between both the bikes would lie in the engines. The Duke 390 is powered by a much more powerful motor that will surely tickle the taste buds of every performance hungry bike aficionado of our country.

Powering the new KTM Duke 390 is a single cyl, fuel injected, liquid-cooled, 4 strokes, 373cc engine that has a peak power output of 44 bhp and a max torque figure of 35 Nm. Mated to the engine is a 6-speed gearbox.

The international spec 390 Duke gets an option of ABS unit. This ABS system comes from renowned auto component manufacturer Bosch. The noteworthy point about this ABS system is that it can be turned ON or OFF by the rider. It is being said that the KTM-Bajaj isn’t skipping on the ABS for the India spec bike and the KTM 390 will come to us with the Anti-lock Braking System. The Bosch ABS unit on the KTM 390 is the 9M ABS model. This unit has sensors at the both the wheels. These sensors are linked to an independent microchip for the ABS. These monitor engine torque to enhance the braking capability. The KTM 390 Duke sports a 4-piston brake calliper instead of the Duke 200’s 2-piston calliper.

Helping Bajaj-KTM with pricing the bike competitively will be the high amount of localization for the manufacturing of the new bike.
