Kawasaki to launch ZX 10R and ZX 14R in India on 4th September

2013 Kawasaki ZX-10R
It’s almost official. Kawasaki is bringing the ZX-10R and the ZX-14R motorcycles to India in September. We have received a formal invite from India Kawasaki Motors about a launch event in Pune, and we don’t see any other motorcycles than the aforementioned beauties being ushered in.

If our wisdom and sources are to be believed, the price of the ZX-10R for India is going to be a very lofty 18 lakh rupees OTR Pune. The ZX-14R on the other hand is going to be breach the 20lakh mark. Both the machines are going to find a very few buyers with that sort of pricing. Fortunately, we know a few who’d put their money on the table for these extreme machines. In fact we’ve come to know through our resources that only 60 numbers of the ZX10R’s would be allocated for sale in India initially and later numbers would be decided based on the market demand.

The introduction of these supersport machines would launch Bajaj Auto into the highest level of motorcycles in India. Surprisingly Bajaj has shied away from being in the premium performance segment which has been inhabited by many other players including Honda and Yamaha for many years now.

Brought to India via the CBU route, the bikes will be sold and serviced via the Probiking network, which also caters to the KTM range of machines. The fully assembled Kwackers should also open the door for the bigger KTMs like the RC8, as the service and spares for the processes for the premium bikes would be similar in nature.

The ZX-10R, considered the very best of the liter class race bred machines from Japan boasts a laser sharp focus on handling and track readiness. With a peak power output of 197 ps @ 13000 rpm from its 998cc inline four, it has the figures to match its reputation. Additional features include a traction control system and an Ohlins electronic steering damper.

Braking is handled via 310mm front petal dual discs and the rear single 220mm petal disc. ABS should be standard for the price. A fully adjustable suspension is also a standard feature.

The second bike to be launched would be the Zx-14R with 210Ps (with RAM air) of mind boggling power and the tag of being the fastest thing on two wheels anywhere in the world. The 1441cc engine propels the huge body of this machine which is designed for maximum aerodynamic ability. Features include slipper clutch, ABS and traction control.
