The Jaguar F- PACE performance crossover has been spied in the flesh for the very first time, that too in China, which is said to be its biggest market. Launched at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the F-Pace is Jaguar’s first raised vehicle, a connotation usually mastered by its sister concern, Land Rover.

That said, the F- PACE won’t serve any predicaments on asphalt, as it has been honed to please the “keener driver” more than your average off-road aficionado. An aluminum intensive construction with a sprinkling of magnesium aid in driving dynamics that exalt lessons learnt from the F-Type sports car.

Power comes from a range of new petrol and diesel engines from Jaguar’s fresh Ingenium family, with displacements starting from 2.0 liters packed within 4 cylinders. In its most eclectic form, the F-Pace employs the 380PS supercharged V6 petrol engine sourced from the F-Type, which shoots it from 0-100 kph in just 5.1 seconds and allows enough bravado to reach an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.

A torque on-demand all-wheel drive system reins power while an electric power-assisted steering system promises feedback fit for a sports car. Exterior highlights include full-LED headlights with LED ‘J’ blade Daytime Running Lights, F-Type like tail lamps and typical Jaguar cues that Ian Callum and his team must be so used to penning by now.
