Jaguar F Pace

Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 : All-new Jaguar F-Pace launched; special ‘First Edition’ model limited to just 2,000 units

Jaguar marked the launched of its first ever SUV – the all-new F-PACE by driving the “world’s most practical sports car” on a gravity defying and record-breaking 360 degree loop. The all-new Jaguar F-PACE was driven by expert British stunt driver Terry Grant, who undertook two months of intense physical and dietary training to ensure his body was prepared for the 6.5 G-Force, which is greater than the forces experienced by space shuttle pilots. Watch the video here:

Ian Callum, Director of Design for Jaguar said: “The Jaguar F-PACE is an SUV with the soul of a sports car. When we created this car we thought differently; we took a Jaguar sports car and made it family friendly. The F-PACE exudes performance yet you can fit five people and all their belongings in it. This is a car for people who love driving, who love design and who love technology – this is the ultimate practical sports car.”

The F-PACE is Jaguar’s first performance SUV. Built on Jaguar’s Lightweight Aluminum Architecture, the F-PACE is powered by petrol and diesel engines from Jaguar’s new Ingenium family. The light and stiff body structure consists of 80 percent aluminium, while weight savings come from the composite tailgate and magnesium for parts such as the cross-car beam. The F-PACE measures 4,731mm long and has a 2,874mm wheelbase; thanks to which it can seat five adult occupants in “absolute comfort” and has a boot volume of 650 liters.

AWD models benefit from a torque on-demand all-wheel drive system which features the in-house control system first developed for F-Type AWD sports car called Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD). The electric power-assisted steering system has been honed to provide “a truly connected feel”, and has been developed using all the learnings from the F-TYPE sports car as well – no wonder then, Jaguar says that the new F-PACE will ” offer an unrivalled breadth of dynamic abilities”, and be will for the keener driver.
