What we have here on this page are few Isuzu D-Max images that have been sent to us by our friend and reader Varun Kulkarni. As these Isuzu D-Max images show, the car maker is still busy testing their pick-up truck for Indian market and we believe that the D-Max pick up truck is still some months away from making it to our car market.
Currently, Isuzu has its MU7 SUV on sale in the country and the carmaker’s dealer network is spread across South India with 7 exclusive dealerships in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala. The company has plans to open 60 outlets across India including New Delhi & Mumbai by end of 2015-16. Isuzu recently acquired land for factory in Hyderbad and the carmaker’s manufacturing facility should be up by 2016. At present, Isuzu has a contract manufacturing agreement with Hindustan Motors (HML) under which HML is contract assembling CKD kits of Isuzu’s sports utility vehicle MU-7 and pick-up truck D-Max, at its Thiruvallur, Chennai plant.
The Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck would come with features such as air-conditioning and power steering and will rival the likes of Tata Xenon and Mahindra Scorpio Getaway. Powering the D-Max is a 2.5 litre turbo diesel engine that could be made available to us in two states of tune- 115 bhp and 136 bhp.
It may be noted that Chevrolet and Isuzu have co-developed a few products and the D-Max is essentially a re-badged Chevrolet Colorado. Initially, the Isuzu D-Max pickup would be brought to us via CKD route.
