Although stories about the Indian Chief Roadmaster and Dark Horse being launched in India have been floating across the Internet, our discussion with some sources within the company confirmed that both models aren’t officially available in India, yet. Rumors about the Indian Roadmaster and the Dark Horse, priced at Rs 37 lakh and Rs 22 lakh respectively, have been doing the rounds, information which has been perhaps sourced from the Indian Motorcycles India website, which is a replica of their international site. The trouble is, the India specific website is linked to their international portal and seems to be picking the prices in an automated manner. Since the prices of newly introduced models are visible in Indian rupees, most publications are mistaking it for an official Indian retail price.
However, what they are about to do is, expand their operations in India and open more dealerships. Currently operating out of their sole outlet in Delhi, the iconic motorcycle brand will soon be available in dealerships that will be operational in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Indian Motorcycles currently sells the Indian Scout, Indian Chief Classic and the Indian Chief Vintage in the country. Powered by an 1199cc, liquid cooled, V-twin engine, and priced at Rs 11.99 lakh, the Scout is the cheapest motorcycle in their line-up.
