India bound 2016 Honda Accord facelift launched in Thailand at THB 1.3 million (INR 26.7 lakhs)

Honda has launched the facelifted 2016 Accord today in Thailand. The Accord facelift comes with a price tag starting at THB 1.3 million (Rs. 26,67,317) for the base 2.0 E variant going up all the way to THB 1.635 million (31,48,782) for the 2.0 EL variant. The 2016 Accord facelift was also showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo held in Delhi this year.

The 2016 Accord facelift receives cosmetic changes to the interior as well as the exterior although the engine specifications remain unchanged. Upfront, the 2016 Accord facelift gets a single slat thick chrome strip and two thin chrome strips below it apart from LED headlamps with DRL’s that are placed on either side. Further below, one can notice the LED fog-lamps flanked by honeycomb inserts that is divided by a mesh grille in between. The posterior receives LED tail lights and a tweaked design on the bumper.

On the inside, the 2016 Accord facelift comes with an engine remote start, a feature that allows the driver to start the vehicle with the help of the hand-held remote. Other features of the interior include a new wood and piano black trim for the dashboard, a 7.7 inch touch-screen infotainment system that comes with Apple Carplay, Mirrorlink and Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity.

Mechanically the 2016 Accord facelift does not receive any updates and is powered by the same engines – a 2.0 litre and a 2.4 litre petrol engine that produces 155 and 174 hp respectively while their respective peak torque comes up at 190 Nm and 225 Nm. These engines will come mated to a 5 speed automatic gearbox. The 2016 Accord facelift will come in four colour options:  pearl white, silver, grey and black with the lighter shades getting a a black themed cabin and the darker shades receiving a beige interior.

With the 2016 Accord facelift launch in Thailand, we can expect the Accord facelift along with the Hybrid variant to arrive at Indian shores by the end of the year. Expect it to come down as a CKD unit with a price tag between INR 25-30 lakhs. Once launched, it will lock horns with the likes of the Toyota Camry and the Skoda Superb.
