First Look Review- Hyundai Xcent [Images, Specifications, Price, Details]

It has been less than a week since Hyundai launched the new Xcent compact sedan and the new model, in spite of being present in the market for only six days, has managed to garner enough interest from both car aficionados and prospective buyers. Hyundai Motor India Ltd has big hopes from its first ever compact sedan and if the response to the sibling Grand i10 is anything to go by, there are good chances of the new Xcent becoming the next big thing from India’s second largest car seller. While we’ll be driving the new Hyundai Xcent towards the end of this month and will be coming up with a comprehensive drive review of the new car, here is our first look review of the Xcent, which should help us take you through all the important facts about the new model.

Thanks to the sub-4m credentials and high percentage of parts sharing with the Grand i10 hatchback, HMIL has been able to bestow its new baby with a price tag that must have set competition really worried. The new Xcent’s price undercuts that of not just the Honda Amaze but also of the Maruti Swift Dzire, which is the highest selling sedan in the country. 1. Between these three, there is little to choose from. All three come with a 1.2 litre engine and offer adequate space for a compact sedan. However, given the fact that the Hyundai Xcent offers more on equipment front and promises to be at par with these cars in terms of fuel economy, I would like you to have a good look at it.

    Best Regards

  2. Hello Mr Yathart,

I am Kaushal from Mumbai..A very nice review of yours has made my choice more strong. I am looking for an automatic petrol vehicle. I have zeroed in between the top end Hyundai Xcent petrol version, the swift dzire & the honda amaze.
Can you plz suggest me the best option.

  3. Hello Dr. Manohar,
nice to hear from you. Well, we haven’t yet driven the Xcent so I can’t comment on driving pleasure and stuff. However, what’s clear is that the Xcent is a really value for money proposition. Going for Honda Amaze over an Xcent makes more sense only if you want the diesel variant. For petrol, the Xcent should be fine. Hyundai has really good after sales network and maintenance costs are low. So, should not be a problem. As for the colour, that I believe is a personal choice. Still, now that you’ve asked, I feel silver should look good on the Xcent.

    Best Regards
