We had brought to you the news of the Hyundai Verna hatchback a couple of months ago. Now Hyundai has revealed the new 5-door body style Verna model at the Ghangzhou Motor Show in China. It’s important to note that this hatchback version of the Verna has been specifically designed for the Chinese market and has nothing in common with the Hyundai RB / Verna sedan version which will most likely replace the current Verna in due course of time. However, whether Hyundai has intentions of bringing the Verna hatchback to India will be decided only as events unfold in the New Year.
The China exclusive Hyundai Verna hatchback will go on sale in Dragonland in January 2011. The engine options for the new car will include a 1.4 liter and 1.6 liter petrol. The 1.4-litre Gamma engine develops a total of 108PS and 135 Nm of torque. The 1.6 liter Gamma comes delivers 124 PS of power and 155 Nm of torque. The power and torque output figures for both 1.4 and 1.6-litre engines are very impressive.
