Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter, registered cumulative sales of 48,704 units in the month of July 2013, a month in which the company undertook its planned periodic annual maintenance shutdown of its production facilities.
Total sales of HMIL stood at 52,845 units in the corresponding month in the year 2012.
Commenting on the sales, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HMIL said, “Volumes are under pressure despite attractive consumer promotion as customer and market sentiments continue to be suppressed. The frequent price increase in the fuel price on account of depreciating rupee has further increased the challenge to grow volumes.”
