Hyundai India has been absent from the compact SUV segment. The Indian subsidiary of the Korean car maker will be launching the ix25 in the Indian market soon. Hyundai has started testing the ix25 on the Indian soil, and the SUV has been caught in a single frame along with its immediate rivals – Ford Ecosport and Renault Duster.
Currently, the Indian compact SUV segment is dominated by the Ford Ecosport and Renault Duster (which will be getting an AWD variant soon). Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car maker, will also be launching the S-Cross soon.
Hyundai had introduced the ix25 at the Beijing Auto Show in April this year. The Hyundai ix25 is a vehicle measuring 4.27 metres in length. Since it doesn’t fit in the sub 4-metre bracket, it won’t qualify for the excise duty benefits which the Ford Ecosport enjoys. The car is likely to feature the same engines under its hood which power the Verna sedan in India.
The exterior design of the new Hyundai ix25 features the new Hyundai Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language, which can be seen on the Hyundai Genesis. The Hyundai ix25 compact SUV has been “strategically developed for China” and measures 4,270 millimeters in length, 1,780 mm in width and 1,630 mm in height. The front of the SUV features a hexagonal grille, LED-lined headlamps, large fog light enclosures and a silver faux skid plate.
