Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid To Launch In India At 2018 Auto Expo

It is being reported that the Hyundai Ioniq will be launched in India at the 2018 Auto Expo. A new report on Autocar India cites that Y K Koo, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India, has confirmed the market launch of the Hyundai Ioniq. Mr. Y K Koo further added that the company has just finished an extensive customer clinic in Delhi and received a positive feedback for the car. In international markets, the new Hyundai Ioniq is a direct rival to the Toyota Prius. The Ioniq is available in both Hybrid and Electric variants, but it looks like only the Hybrid variant will come to India.

The Ioniq Hybrid is powered by a hybrid drive-train that packs a 1.6-litre petrol engine rated at 105 PS and 147.10 Nm of torque working in tandem with an electric motor that generates 32 kW (43.5 PS) and 170 Nm of torque. Combined power output stands at 141 PS and 265 Nm of torque, which is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Ioniq Hybrid has a fuel economy rating of 29.41 km/l.

Notable features on board the hybrid sedan include optional 17” alloy wheels, cruise control, rear parking sensors with rear view camera, keyless entry with push button start, leather seats with heated/ventilated front seats, heated outer rear seats, heated leather steering wheel, a driver power seat with Integrated Memory System, Bi-Xenon headlamps with LED rear combination lamps and a driver’s supervision instrument cluster with 7” LCD display.

For infotainment, the Ioniq comes with integrated satellite navigation, an Infinity audio system with Android Auto / Apple CarPlay and Wireless Phone Charging (where supported) also feature as standard. Standard safety features include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) and individual Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Top grades get Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Front Parking Assist. Prices start from £19,995 (INR 17.89 lakh) for the Ioniq Hybrid SE 1.6 GDi. The Ioniq will come to India as CKD (completely-knocked-down) units.
