Honda RC-E Electric motorcycle to be shown at the 2011 Tokyo Show

Tokyo Motor Show should see, among others, Honda’s display of quite a few electricity powered concepts. While most of them seem to be devoid of any interest, one bike that catches our attention and lots of it is the RC-E concept.

In words of its creator, the RC-E is ‘an EV version of a super sports bike that pursues the joy of riding. A powerful and smooth ride unique to an EV model is achieved with the 250cc-class compact body.’ Honda isn’t willing to reveal more though. But from what little we can make out from the pic that we managed to dig out, the bike appears competition ready with serious looking Brembo brakes, Ohlins forks and shocks and an aluminium swingarm. Not to forget the ‘Mike Hailwood’ graphics.

We aren’t really head over heels when it comes to electric bikes. What is with performance of those available in India?  But if this bike is any indication towards Honda’s vision for the future of electric motorcycles, there just might be some light at the end of the tunnel.
