Honda confirms Crosstourer for 2012 production

Honda has officially decided to put the Crosstourer into production from next year on. The adventure bike, powered by a V4 power plant was showcased as a prototype at last year’s Milan Auto show. The production model will be unveiled at the 2011 EICMA Milan show before going into production next year. The bike will later make its debut for the customers in the Uk from 19th to 27th November.

One may call the Crosstourer as a VFR1200F in adventure bike’s guise. The bike, apart from most likely sharing its engine with the VFR1200F, will also get its advanced dual clutch transmission. The Crosstourer will provide good ground clearance, spoked off road wheels, and features to combat all sorts of terrains and climates. Here’s what the official statement  from Honda says about the bike

“The Crosstourer will deliver all the fun and excitement of a sports-tourer, with the comfortable, upright riding position and manoeuvrability of an adventure machine. It combines sports touring features, such as the powerful V4 engine configuration – also found in the VFR1200F – with long travel suspension, adventure focused riding position and dynamic off-road machine styling.
Underpinned by Honda’s V4 expertise, the machine will also be offered with the option of Honda’s innovative second-generation Dual Clutch Transmission technology. The Crosstourer offers a unique and versatile package that will provide great all-weather, all-road capabilities.”

According to Yosuke Hasegawa, Crosstourer development head, ‘The Crosstourer offers a high-level fusion of vibrant off-road styling, upright riding position, V engine power and Dual Clutch Transmission that offers more direct power transmission and easy operation. We are convinced that we have successfully brought out new value in what can be termed the true crossover concept.’
