Gravton Motors is a Hyderabad based startup EV brand, founded in 2016. The Quanta is its first all-new electric bike. The band claims that its newly launched EV can cover 800 km for just ₹80/-. Now that sure sounds promising in these times when the fuel costs are soaring sky high. Another unique feature is that the bike has swappable batteries which makes it possible to deliver a range of 320 km.

Announcing the launch of the vehicle, Mr Parshuram Paka, Founder & CEO – Gravton Motors said, “With the launch of our first electric bike Quanta today, my dream has come true. Quanta resonates with the true essence of not just Made in India but also Made for India. While this product is largely meant for riders from across the segments, we also have one coming up in the sports category, primarily meant for action-oriented passionate young bikers. We have architected and engineered every component in-house and appointed vendors who can create components as per our configuration. We are also delighted to see some of the top component manufacturers agreeing to manufacture components as per our design and specifications and this truly shows the credibility and believability of our products he further added.
Design
The Quanta comes with the world’s first rib caged chassis design. This enhances the safety and agility of the battery compartment. The Quanta does not look like any other scooter or motorcycle that are available in the market. The design is reminiscent of the Bajaj M50 and M80 but with a lot of improvements and a touch of modern aesthetics. The bike sits on 17-inch alloy wheels
Powertrain & Battery
The Quanta is powered by a 3KW BLDC motor that has been engineered and manufactured in-house by Gravton. The motor produces 170 Nm which is available from the word go and can propel the bike to a top speed of 70 kmph. As for the battery, the Quanta draws its power from a 3 kWh Li-on detachable battery that promises a range of 150 km on a single charge. However, this range can be extended to up to 320 km as the Quanta’s ib caged design enables the rider to carry an extra battery that can be swapped once the first one is depleted. To add to the convenience, besides have charging stations, Gravton will also build a network of swap stations where riders can simply swap the depleted batteries for a charged one.

- Two-mode charge – the fast charging can juice up the vehicle in just 90 mins, charging at the rate of 1 km/ minute and regular mode charges the battery in 3 hours
- Swap enabled chassis, help to remove the battery from the bike out for charging in the case of non-availability of charging sockets

- SMART APP – Smart App gives the rider total control over Quanta. The application is powered with features such as Roadside assistance, mapping service stations, remote lock/ unlock and turning on or off the lights from a remote distance
- GOTAC – Unique ECU feature telecasts the whereabouts and overall health of the vehicle to the SMART APP. Thus vehicle tracking and remote immobilization can be done very easily using Smart App mobile application
Price & Availability
The Gravton Quanta has been launched at an introductory price of ₹99,000/- along with the installation of a home charger free of cost for limited customers. It will be offered in three colours – Red, White and Black. The launch is only for Hyderabad and Gravton will introduce the Quanta and its upcoming products to more cities gradually.
