While Ford India has already launched the promotional campaign for the upcoming EcoSport and has showcased the compact SUV at various venues across the country, test mules of the EcoSport continue to do rounds of various cities of India.
Seen here is a set of spy pics of the EcoSport test mule that was recently spotted testing in Guindy, near Chennai.
The exact launch date for the EcoSport hasn’t yet been announced but it is being said that the Ford EcoSport India launch would take place sometime in June. The EcoSport has been successful in generating a good interest in Indian SUV buyers and car aficionados and looks all set to become the next big thing in the SUV market. The EcoSport is already on sale in many countries and rivals the Renault Duster.
For the Indian market, the Ford EcoSport Compact SUV will come with three engine options. The entry level engine for the EcoSport will be a 1.5 litre, Normally Aspirated, 4 cylinder petrol engine that does duty in the Fiesta sedan. The second petrol engine variant will be powered by the much publicized 1.0 litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine that has won many awards and plenty of accolades. The diesel variant, which might become the most popular of all the three engine variants, will be powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged, 4 cylinder diesel engine that is also seen powering the Fiesta diesel. All the engines will come mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission, with the 1.5 litre petrol engine variant also getting a 6-speed dual clutch Powershift automatic gearbox option.
The entire country is eagerly awaiting the launch of the new compact SUV and future seems pretty bright for Ford India.
