The Fiat Punto and Avventura are both dynamically sorted machines and that is a fact. What lets them down though is an unexciting choice of motors that aren’t really lethargic, but don’t sing in perfect harmony with the chassis. All that could change now, as Fiat could launch hotter variants of the Punto Evo and the Avventura, powered by a 1.4-litre, 113 bhp, T-Jet motor, borrowed from the Linea.
Although hot hatch lovers and petrol heads can already head to a VW showroom and drive out in a Polo GT TSi, the German hatch is powered by a 1.2-litre, 103 PS, turbocharged motor that is mated to a 7-speed DSG auto box, and not a manual. The Fiat Punto and Avventura T-Jet when launched will appeal to enthusiasts who are fond of manual control. The added power, coupled with a fantastic ride and handling package should make these two Fiats a hoot to drive. While both cars could be launched in the first half of this year, when the Punto T-Jet arrives, it will be the most powerful hatch one could buy under the INR 10 lakh mark.
